K. TAO, WRITER/DIRECTOR

K. Tao is an Asian-American writer/director based in Koreatown, Los Angeles.

She was selected for the 2020 Unlock Her Potential Mentorship Program, where she was mentored by Alex Tse (Co-Creator/EP, Wu-Tang Clan: An American Saga). In 2021, she was named a Finalist in the Universal Animation Writers Program and a Top 10 winner in the Launch Pad Prose Competition.

Most recently, her short film about detained Chinese Americans (“No Exit”) was nominated for Best Short Film in the ReelHeART Film Festival, awarded Semi-Finalist in the LA Independent Women Film Awards, and Finalist in the Tokyo International Short Film Festival. Her first feature script placed in the top 10 percent of the 2022 Nicholl Fellowship and her short film script, “Chopsticks,” was a 2022 PAGE Awards Quarter-Finalist.
